Logan Circle Kitchen Remodeling

Logan Circle, Washington, DC

Using the eco-friendly, revolutionary countertop product "Richlite", the kitchen on the top floor of this Circa 1902 three-story red stone walkup was chosen as the lead article in the Home Section of the Washington Post in October 2002. Home and Garden TV featured the kitchen in a segment of the nationally-syndicated show "Dream Builder". Winner of 2002 National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), Contractor of the Year Award. See More »

Old Town Kitchen Remodeling

Old Town Alexandria, VA

This project is called a gut job. Old Town is famous for out-of-square homes, and the floors and ceiling at this home were out of square by 2 1/2 inches in an eight-foot run. Ducting was found in very unusual and unfortunate places. The 40-year-old job cabinetry and tattered flooring was in terrible condition. The home was built on slab foundation with a very tight crawlspace below - plumbers hated us. Flooring was taken down to plywood with drywall removal. New electricals with "new age" wiring and plumbing were included. Heated flooring was placed under marble throughout the kitchen. The living-dining area boasts a new fireplace surround with built-in flat screen plasma television, the big crowd pleaser. Flooring combined marble and hardwood maple flooring, all new wood trims throughout and dramatic new paint treatments. The new Caldera electrical cooktop especially pleased the owners. The cooktop is recessed into the granite, giving a flush finish. See More »

Madison Manor Kitchen Remodeling

North Arlington Residence

This project was a true challenge, as a 40+ year old kitchen. Flooring required raising, leveling and hardwood toothing throughout the project, including adding kitchen hardwood flooring where the linoleum was removed. The ceilings required lowering and leveling to accommodate extensive new recessed can lighting. Crown and base molding was installed throughout. A renovated design with new granite counters and island were incorporated in the new design. Bench seating with cabinetry and other space saving arrangements were installed throughout for more functionality and to maximize the use of space. New French doors with sidelights were installed to provide additional natural lighting in the new adjacent dining-great room area. Detail work on the fireplace included reducing the opening of the fireplace to accommodate gas logs and installing granite breast board and hearth. Walls were removed to convert to open space while maintaining structural integrity. Columns were added to provide balance and conformity to the new space. Crown molding was installed at new bulkheads to give the new area a high-end look. The goal of the homeowners' vision of the kitchen-dining area open spaces was realized within a six-month period of time. See More »
